From the 1st May 2017, the Croatian Ministry of Maritime Affairs have confirmed the following changes to regulation governing charter activity in Croatia;-

  •  Restrictions on non-EU commercial yachts under 40 metre chartered in Croatia have been suspended. All non-EU commercial yachts may charter if equipped with a valid charter licence
  • All non-EU commercial yachts must purchase a charter licence even if the charter starts outside Croatia in another EU or non-EU country
  • Yachts flagged Isle of Man, Gibraltar and the Channel Islands do not need a charter licence since the flags are now deemed to be EU
  • If demand is too high Croatian Ministry of Maritime Affairs may provisionally suspend the issuance of charter licences for up to 3 months
  • Charter license can be purchased through a licensed ship agent and are valid for one calendar year
  • Charters commencing outside of the EU will be subject to 13% VAT in Croatia on a pro-diem basis.

 In order to continue its support for the growing gaming industry in Malta, the Malta Gaming Authority( MGA) have issued new regulation in respect of skill games, following publication in the Government Gazette on the 24th January 2017. This new regulation follows extensive public consultation, carried out in 2015.


Underpinning this regulation change, the Authority has exercised its power to deem fantasy sports as controlled skills games and will also be covered by this legislation change.
